You do not redesign because you are bored with the color. You redesign when the site is leaking work. Here are five signs that leak is open.
One: you cannot read it on a phone without pinching. Most of your traffic is a thumb. If buttons are tiny or the form is a chore, they leave. Two: the last update was a year of the president you cannot remember. Stale photos, a dead phone number, and “© 2019” tell people you might be gone.
Three: you never see the leads. The form goes to an email nobody checks in the van. Four: you have to explain what you do on the phone because the homepage does not. Five: competitors with worse work and better sites keep showing up in conversation — “I found them on Google first.”
A redesign is not a new coat of paint. It is a site that loads, states the trade and the area, shows reviews, and puts a real request on your phone in seconds. If your current site cannot do those four things, it is already costing you.
You can keep the domain, the reviews, and the photos that still look like your work. What you should not keep is a brochure that only works on a desktop in 2012.
